Data sufficiency questions do not ask you to solve anything. They ask whether the statements given are enough to solve it — a different skill, and the one candidates lose marks on by answering the underlying puzzle instead. Each of the fifteen below is built on a real floor or ranking arrangement, so the sufficiency verdict is checked against the arrangement rather than asserted.

How to use this set

The 15 questions below are ordered the way an exam block is rather than easiest-first: two gentle openers, then a run of medium, and a hard one every sixth question — 2 of the 15 sit in the hard band. The set mixes data sufficiency (floor) and data sufficiency (ranking), in the round-robin the paper itself sets rather than one form at a time.

Work each question on paper before you open its solution. The walkthrough is the method itself, step for step, so reading it first turns a practice set into a reading exercise and teaches nothing. FAQ

What is the single most common data sufficiency mistake?

Solving. The moment you compute the answer from both statements together you stop testing each one alone, and 'both together' becomes the reflex response. Judge statement I on its own, then statement II on its own, and only then consider them jointly.

How do I test whether one statement is sufficient?

Try to build two different valid arrangements that both satisfy it. If you can, it is insufficient — and you have proved it, not guessed it. If every attempt collapses to the same arrangement, it is sufficient. Two counterexamples settle the question faster than any amount of reasoning about it.

Do banking and CAT use the same data sufficiency format?

The answer options differ. Banking reasoning usually offers five options covering each statement alone, either alone, both together, and neither. Read the option list before the statements every time, because the same statements map to different letters across papers.
